Our story
Built from experience. Grown through trust.
Before Paw Control had vans, awards, or a ranch, it started with hands-on work and a willingness to help.
Owner David Ryan spent about five years as a veterinary technician at Denton Animal Hospital under Dr. Layh. That’s where he learned patience with seniors, large dogs, anxious pets, and animals that don’t do well with rushed handling.
In January 2018 he started Paw Control with in-home nail trims. One family told another. The business grew into full mobile grooming across Denton County — showing up, treating people fairly, and working with pets other places had given up on. Jenin built that with him. Their daughter Nadia grew up in it and still claims it as hers.
Paw Control became a multiple-time Best of Denton County winner, including 2026, and a name vets and neighbors send people to for desheds, tough nails, cats, and big coats.

The next chapter is the ranch
David had known Julie, Club Canine’s previous owner, since those vet-tech days. On August 28, 2026 the family acquired the boarding property at 7800 E McKinney St, Denton, TX — about 3½ acres, a pond, goats, private indoor/outdoor suites, and room to build a real one-stop for Denton County.
The vans still roll. The salon is open on the property. Overnight staff is here at 2am. Daycare, training, and a feed shop are the next build-out — we won’t list them as open until they are.
